It would be really cool to be able to take off for a few days, a week even, on a vacation. The month of unemployment I gave myself was nice in that I had some time to recharge my batteries, but not so nice in that I was worrying about getting a job to keep paying those bills. If I had to do it all over again, I would have. I hated my job. I didn't hate my employer, I hated the job. I just wasn't cut out for sales. Quitting that job did give me a "vacation" but not one that was worry free.
I want to take a week off and go travel. Rent a car, drive in some direction for three days and then turn around and come back to Philly. Get on a plane to visit the West Coast for once; or return to Europe and revist Prague or go someplace new like Madrid or Berlin or Dublin or Amsterdam; or head someplace warm like Bermuda and visit some college friends.
But I won't be doing any of that anytime soon.
Last minute deals at Travelocity really paid off for us. You need to book within 14 days of travel but the deals are amazing. For example Sir Oolius was looking at flights to Toronto, they were about $700 per person. In contrast, the last minute deal, including a "luxury hotel" (it really was) and a car for the weekend was around $300 per person. They include all types of destinations ranked by price (Kentucky, Amsterdam, Jamaica, you decide).
That said, I don't understand why you want a vacation. Don't you watch television?
