The Iggles came close last year. And if they had done it, there would've been a parade up and down Broad St like no other. Fuck the Mummers Parade, this would've really been something. People streaming ticker tape [when was the last time anyone's seen a stock ticker?] from the windows of City Hall, the Atlantic Building, the Bellevue... Bars flinging their doors open all day. There would be no bar tabs, the green Yards and Lager would be flowing all day from the taps without a care. Ed "Hoagie" Rendell would be in town chomping on something ferocious and meeting at the center with Andy Reid for a fat guy hoagie kiss. John Street would be rocking that leather Iggles jacket of his and these guys would be back on the streets too, drunker than ever.
But the Iggles did not win.
Cross-state squad the Stillers won. And they had their parade. Btezra has a great flickr set of the day. Musta been nice.
Not that I'm vested too much in it though. Yes, I'm a Philadelphian now, 20+ months now. But my heart still lies with the Giants [yeah, that's right]. It would've been nice and I definitely would've been caught up in the rush, how couldn't I? I would've been right in the thick of it. Probably drunk, definitely with my camera, on Broad St singing "Fly Iggles Fly..." But they didn't win. The Stillers did this year though. Don't know any Stillers songs.
they werent playing this in denver, especially after the afc champ game, but i know it was getting a lot of play back in my hometown.
