If there's a monument or neighborhood or just feeling representative of Philadelphia, I think Brad Maule of Philly Skyline has captured it. I mentioned how the bridge was shut down and will be demo'd soon, and that I wanted to get down there to take some photos before the urban decay is all gone, but of course, Brad's been working on it dilligently for the past few years.
Peep is great photo essay on the old bridge complete with historical drawings from the past right up to documenting the scene with cleanup crews yesterday. A gorgeous skyline shot from the bridge awaits you at the end of the essay.
He's also got a group show [well, him and one other person, what do you call that?] at Darling's Cafe [10th/Pine] so go peep that, and he recommends their cheesecake. I gotta get over there and soon!
