We will be making painful sacrifices to protect Ford's heritage and secure our futureThat's what Chairman/CEO Ford said earlier today via AP. I wonder how many "painful sacrifices" Chairman Ford will be making. While he does not take a cash salary [and hasn't since 2001], he did take in $22M in 2004 in compensation. Jeez. I wonder how many jobs that could've kept alive.
I'm not saying that Chairman Ford can get around the $160B+ in debt that Ford has all by himself, but I'm sure that he and the other multi millionaires up in the front office aren't going to hurt anytime soon. But the people whose lives are tied to the 30,000 jobs and fourteen facilities to close by 2012 are fucked.
Why is it when the rich make plans to "save money" they just end up getting richer?
Ford shares rose 60 cents, or 7.6 percent, to $8.50 in midday trading on the New York Stock Exchange. With the news of 30,000 people losing their jobs, Chairman Ford probably made a few million in stock valuation.
pretty sick.
I'm in property class, and I'm clearly WAY too liberal for this professor. Oh well.

That Ford and the rest of the US Auto industry still exists is a miracle.
