Bumrunner at The North Star Bar

The next Philly sensation? Bumrunner may just be that. PW's Doug Wallen said:

Is it too soon to predict the breakout Philly bands of 2006? Either way, Bumrunner seem like contenders, armed with pedigree-guitarist Lydia Giordano is the daughter of prominent jazz musician Steve Giordano-as well as next-big-thing buzz-they've done a flurry of label showcases this month.

The CP's A.D. Amorosi has written up the band two times, the second time being the MusicPick of this week:

As a kid in Germantown (a twin), [Lydia] Giordano grew up bearing down on classical cello lessons before playing guitar in garage bands with [Sean] Bolton. They came up playing basements and house parties where Miller's been known to strip bare and Bolton "dances like he wants to try out for an '80s video back-line dancer."

Now isn't that reason enough to go see them?

I saw them play in October and me likey too. I'm gonna try to get over to Poplar/27th Sts for their show tonight at the North Star Bar. $8 to get in with Undercast, Lolita Bras and Paradocs. Show starts at 9p. Their MySpace complete, of course, with .mp3s.

I've played Madden with Steve Giordano though never his daugter. If she's anything like Steve she's probably pretty adept at Madden herself. I don't know about this bumrunner, but if you ever get a chance to hear steve play either with his band or in a duo with Erik Dutko, you should jump on it.
