Today marks one year of existence for my photobog. It's a place where I can share my photographs with no distractions. I love posting my images there for all to see. I think that my photography has improved quite a bit in the last year I've kept that photoblog up and used my D70 more and more. I know the limitations of the camera and the lenses I use. I've become better at gaguing ambient light and don't just click away and waste as many shots as I used to when I was exploring more and really shooting less.
I still have a long ways to go, but getting out and shooting every single day is the only way to really do it. I've shot almost every day for the past year. I'd say close to 300 out of the 365 days. I've posted 290 sets of images ranging from one to nine in a set, usually a single shot. I've read through tons of comments and made so many wonderful friends along the way. I've become a part of the Philadephia photoblogging community and have had a chance to meet, talk about photography and shoot with dozens of wonderful people here in the last year since I started keeping my photoblog. For those who also follow this blog [and all the others I'm a part of], thank you. For those of you who have never seen any of my photos [that's one of them up there], please take a click over to my photoblog and have a looksy.
I've taken photos of Kerry and Clinton when they came to town in 2004, my newborn neice, the Mummers Parade, the Eagles Superbowl Pep Rally, concerts, the St. Patrick's Day Parade, festivals, roadtrips, the Italian Market, Eastern State Penitentary, Wachovia USPRO Championship, protests, Live 8!, exhibitions, Murderball, more protests, my sister's wedding!, things I see on the subway during my commute, and tons of landmarks along the way. There's plenty where that all came from.
I've even managed to get a few pay gigs here and there and I'll be making some steady freelance photography money in the new year as I become one of two freelancers for AOL's City Guide site for Philadephia. I even shot engagement photos for a politician I met along my travels in various circles of PA politicos [more info on his race in another post]. I also got a gig this Friday night for a graduation event. And I expect a check sometime next week from a photojournalism contest I won ages ago that ran into some difficulties in receiving payment, but things have seemingly worked out.
Here's to many more posts [and many more camera gadgets!].
That Emily is a cutie :)

The D70 has limitations?!?!? You'd never know it looking at your stuff.
Happy Birthday!
