No SEPTA Talks Today

The Inky reports that on Day Two of the TWU - SEPTA strike, there will most likely not be talks between the two sides.

SEPTA spokesman Richard Maloney said negotiators had been awaiting word from a state mediator who had been trying to bring both sides back to the bargaining table. But by mid-morning, Maloney said, SEPTA was "getting indications that he’s not going to call us."

Typically, that would indicate that the mediator feels that the two sides were still too far apart to make further talks worthwhile. “These things can change from hour to hour,” Maloney said. “We are still in the hotel, and we are hopeful that they will return.

Wait a second. How the fuck do they know that things are still too far apart if they're not talking to each other?! Get to the damn hotel and start yapping!

I'm no union member and I've never held a strike against anyone. But doesn't the process involve talks/negotiations? Why is Mayor Street staying so silent? Telling both sides to get to the bargaining table is not taking sides Mr. Mayor, it's looking out for the people who elected you to office. I've heard from so many people that you're a straight talker, I wish that you'd get to talking.
