The WaPo has this article on many war veterans who are running for Congress. Two of those highlighted are running for Congress close to Philadelphia. The article leads off with Patrick Murphy, who is running in PA-08 and it closes with Bryan Lentz, who is running in PA-07. Both are lawyers. Lentz is the older of the two by a decade. Both have recent experience in Iraq.
Murphy goes up against freshman Rep. Mike Fitzpatrick while Lentz goes up against ten-term Rep. Curt Weldon, vice chairman of the House Armed Services Committee. I saw Murphy speak at the five county DFA meetup a couple months back. He was the only one there who breathed some life into the hot, hot, event. He also stopped by Drinking Liberally last month. I haven't met nor heard Lentz speak just yet.
Murphy on the issues. Lentz on the issues.
The article closes with a quote from Lentz:
"I'm not anti-war, I'm anti-failure," Lentz said. "We need to define what victory is and we need to set a plan to get there. You cannot stay the course if you do not set a course."Well said.
Here's to hoping they don't get Kerry'd.
Bryan is a good guy... He was Seth Williams' campaign manager in the DA race.
