Finally, Allan Houston is retiring!!!!!! Now is his 80 bajillion dollar contract still on the books? Maybe now the Bricks can start to rebuild. I think they still have Luc Longley and Larry Johnson money on the books though. One more year of Ewing or a decade of payroll fuckups? Ewing.
I loved Houston's J. One of the nicest releases in the game. But he was so ineffective. Never made his teamates better. Never stepped it up on D or learned to effectively drive to the rim to keep his defenders honest to respect that aspect of his game. He was solely a jump shooter.
It's more than a good idea for Mo Cheeks to develop Korver's game here in Philly, to make him drive more, keep the defenders honest. I think Korver will have as much as a ten-point jump in points per game by the end of the year if he really works on it. He only went to the line 82 times last year. He shoots over 80% from the stripe. Driving to the hoop alone should get him at least four more appearances at the line. Add in a and-one here and there and one more 3 a game with the added room from respecting the drive and Korver becomes one of the more dangerous players in the Eastern Conference. Now for the D.
Bye bye Allan.
Houston's salary for the next two years do count against the Knicks' payroll. So the Knicks will pay out the 39 million left on his deal.
