Two of the world's longest and deepest fjords, Geirangerfjord and Naeroeyfjord, run from Stavanger in the south to Andalsnes, 500 km to the north-east and are set 120km apart.
They are considered among the most stunning of fjord landscapes and are home to many marine mammals.
The last U.S. sites to make it were Carlsbad Caverns National Park and Waterton Glacier International Peace Park in 1995. Waterton Glacier International Peace Park is between Montana and Alberta, Canada and is considered a transboundary property.
