I saw in Pressler's June 15th PW column that she mentioned one of her readers spotting Duncan
Bloggers! They're just like us!: "I was running east on Lombard Street crossing Broad," divulges a reader, "and I saw this sweaty lunk running in the opposite direction. He seemed to be fiddling with his iPod, and I was like, oh my God, it's Atrios, aka Duncan Black of http://atrios.blogspot.com/. He's like a really big deal. And then I thought, no, he's just a guy who keeps an online diary. Does Wonkette sweat when she runs, too?" Hey, it was a slow week.
And then in today's column:
Brushes with Web greatness: "I saw Duncan Black, aka Atrios of the blog Eschaton (atrios.blogspot.com), having cocktails-at Tangier of all places-with a group of people. They were all leaning against the bar. It was really hot as shit, and he was all sweaty. I thought, 'Wow. Atrios sweats. Just like the rest of us.'"
Maybe Duncan will become Pressler's new obsession once Neil Stein, of SteinStalkerTM fame, is in jail. Maybe she'll even make it out to Drinking Liberally Tuesdays at Tangier [1801 Lombard St] and meet him herself, in the flesh. And I don't understand this portrait she's painting of him. He's not some sweaty dude. But it does get a tad hot in there.
That's my biggest problem with Atrios' site, the way it's all damp and puckered on my screen from his excessive liberal sweat. Get some paper towels, you lefty lunk! Stop messing up my new SyncMaster!

And all of a sudden I'm super glad that I didn't go to Drinking Liberally last night as planned. Doesn't Tangier have air conditioning?

Ty- Methinks you bought some back alley sweaty SyncMaster. Don't blame Duncan.
Mac- Yes, they do, but we fill up the place pretty good. I think there were 30+ of us in the back and spilling outside. In the back, there's only one old AC unit, not sure if the boot/bar area is cooler.

Until Professor Black came along, we had to settle for Howard Eskin.
And what's this blogging thing, anyway? I hear it's all the rage with the kids these days...

whopp-de-do. We sweat here in Connecticut, too. Besides, I have it on good authority that Atrios glows...

I'm Atrios. Doctor Black, if you're nasty.

Tangier of all places-with a group of people
"of all places"??? it's not like the fact that he goes to tangier once a week with "a group of people" isn't advertised by a banner across the top of his site.

All I can say is that if you weren't sweating on Tuesday night, it's probably time to head for the doctor's office to have your sweat glands examined.

Duncan needs a stalker. Is that Pressler in the picture on PW? If so, I wouldn't mind being stalked a little, too.

blog stalker? would s/he blog about it? i'd read it. and in the year that i was working as a sales rep at PW, i don't recall ever meeting pressler, but i don't think that's her in that picture.

I emailed her and told her in the email with subject line "Of all Places" - "Tangier is the new home of Philadelphia's "Drinking Liberally".
She emailed back "Oh my god, totally. Come to think of it, it's always had a commie feel to it."
