Joseph Pistone, a.k.a. Donnie Brasco, will be at the Free Library Tuesday night talking to us Philly folk along with Ed Conlon.
Pistone's Donnie Brasco was brought to the silver screen in 1997 and he's become a pretty famous guy, to the masses, because of it. There's still a sizable bounty on his head, but he continues to write and consult with law enforcement agencies. I saw Donnie Brasco not too long ago and loved it. I also watched the extra footage on the DVD and Pistone seems to be very happy with the end product and it should be pretty cool to see him in person talking about his experiences.
Ed Conlon's book Blue Blood tells of what he saw walking the beat on a daily basis as a cop in the NYPD. He wrote a column in The New Yorker and later, the book. He is currently a detective. Lady read the book and really liked it.
If you're not too busy, head on over and check it out. It's free and starts at 7.30p.
