Moved

Ah fuck it, I'm pulling the plug right now. I like WordPress way too much. And TypePad is just annoying me more than usual for no particular reason. Probably the email I got last night with all of these stupid projects in the works that have been implemented on WP for ages already.

The new site is: http://blog.dragonballyee.com. Alternatively, you can access it at http://dragonballyee.com/blog, whichever suits your fancy. The new RSS feed is: http://feeds.feedburner.com/Philly.

Have a look around. Lemme know if somethings broke. I'm still fiddling with it.

Comments and trackbacks have been turned off here. So go comment over there.

Moving to WordPress

TypePad is just blech. I'm annoyed at the lack of customizable features. I'm annoyed that I've had to manually ping Technorati after posts to be indexed [I just received an email stating that SixApart -parent company- has just enabled this on the backend]. I'm annoyed that I can't search my own damn blog via a dinky search box that indexes my own blog. I'm annoyed that I can't click from within a post and edit it or a comment on it. Instead, I have to fish through the TypPad admin UI and do it. I'm annoyed that there are so many cool things available in WordPress that aren't being rolled out in TypePad.

So, I'm moving to WordPress. I've already established a new blog and I'm fiddling with it right now. This TypePad account doesn't expire until sometime in the summer, but it'll serve as a redirect point [via links all over the place] to the new blog home.

I've loved tinkering with the functionality of WordPress on Messy and Picky [which is due for an upgrade from v1.5.2 to v2.0.2] and I've loved tinkering with the new site. Initial feedback from a few WordPress users and other people has been constructive and generally in the good column.

I think it'll be in a state ready to be fully public by the end of the week. A new link will be revealed.

Permalinks will die over the summer at some point. Links pointing within the blog to earlier entries will break too. Casualties in this upgrade I'm willing to make.

Lady and I had some eats at New Deck Tavern over the weekend. Blech.

Our review of the lackluster joint. My food was horrible.

Kisso

kisso japanese restaurant

Messy and Picky went over to Olde City with the intention of eating out for the night and capping it off with a trip to Franklin Fountain. We didn't really care where we ate, Lady preferred Japanese or some place with some salad. After a good amount of walking around, we decided to try Kisso up on 4th and Race Sts. A place I've passes several times and a place one of Lady's friends wanted to eat when she was in town a few months ago [but we didn't].

Good eats! Inexpensive by Japanese restaurant standards, but not cheap either. Their menu listed some lunch specials, but we were there for dinner. We both very much recommend the place. Our review is up on the food blog here.

After the delicious meal, we headed down to Market St for some dessert, but we were greeted by a 'Closed for Easter' sign. Damn that bunny.

Philadelphia Immigration Rally Photos

I've posted a tighter edit of my shots from last Monday's immigration rally over on my photoblog. Parts one, two and three; twelve shots in all.

The immigration rally shots may be formed into a more structured and not simply chronological essay to be posted elsewhere very soon.

Philly Blog Community Stuff

This Saturday is the April Blogger Meetup over at Ten Stone. I'll be out canvassing for Chuck Pennacchio all day so I won't be able to make it over there for the gathering. Second missed one in a row. Last month, I was out in Lancaster with Pennacchio all day.

It's also time to nominate the best Philly blogs to be the next Featured Blog over at Philly Future.

And Tulin over at Politics Philly is back from her hiatus! Still a few more weeks until Matt over at Tattered Coat comes back.

They Let us Eat Cake

Last night's first anniversary of Drinking Liberally at Tangier [1801 Lombard St] was very much cake-filled as promised. They laid out a ginormous cake for us. A yummy bread cake with cinnamon swirling through the insides throughout. I don't think I've ever had such a cake.

After chowing down on a plateful of Buffalo wings and a French dip sandwich [yummy], I helped myself to a piece of cake. Then went back for another. But before I had one, the Noz gobbled down two. He went back inside [we were all outside, it was oh so nice out] for a third. And after going inside to settle up for the night, I snagged a third piece for myself. I'm not sure if Noz had another piece, but if he did, I will say that he didn't eat a proper meal beforehand and had more room for cake. Mmmm... cake.

Photoblog Post #400

central cafe, nyc
My 400th post on my photoblog. It's of Central Café at Pershing Square on the south side of Grand Central Terminal.

I had about an hour to kill before my NJT to SEPTA train over at Penn Station so I walked over from Grand Central [with all my crap]. A flickr set here of thirty shots which includes a nice shot of one of my absolutely favorite bulidings, the Grace Building which has a sloping facade. That's not a wide angle effect there, that's how the building really looks.

National Democratic Message

I've never heard of that site before this weekend, but I got a handful of referrals from them which is nice. But they totally misspelled the title of this blog on their PA blogs page. If anyone knows who runs it, or if someone from DNM comes across this post, please fix it.
