Gas Prices 7.5.05

I noticed that the price for a gallon of regular gasoline went up from about $2.24 to about $2.31 over the weekend. A 7¢ increase. Remember when all those people voted for Bush and so many of them listed their sole reason, so superficially, was for cheaper gas for their gigantic cars? Good grief.

Just before the war, I remember gas prices on the NJ Turnpike being closer to $1. That's right, $1. I remind myself of the stereotypical old geezer talking about how s/he remembers how such and such cost a nickel in their day. Well, I remember when a gallon of gasoline cost 99¢ all of six years ago.

Where's the push for alternative fuels and more hydrogen/hybrid automobiles? Oh yeah, Japan. If only GM had thought of it a decade ago and really sunk some money into it.

Lady and I are going to be carless by the end of the month. I feel good and bad about it.
